I am a licensed, certified genetic counselor working and living on the traditional Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Menominee homeland along the southwest shores of Michigami, North America’s largest system of freshwater lakes, where the Milwaukee, Menominee and Kinnickinnic rivers meet and the people of Wisconsin’s sovereign Anishinaabe, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Oneida and Mohican nations remain present.
I am passionate about working to improve access to genetic testing and information, while recognizing that there are important ethical, historical, and personal perspectives that need to be considered in the context of genetics.
My goal for appointments and educational outreach is to help my clients, their family members (whether biologically related or not), and my community make informed health decisions in this time and context of personalized medicine and health disparities. Whether and how to use genetic information starts with knowing where it can come from: DNA testing, personal/family history, scientific understanding, and ancestral knowledge are sources you have the power to leverage for yourself. I am honored to be your guide and facilitator.
